Heavy rains on Friday afternoon caused some major problems in the Charlotte area with flooding.

Cars were getting caught in quickly flooding creeks and parking lots and interstates were even shut down with standing water that was too dangerous to drive through.

If you have flooding in your area - we want to see your pictures! Snap a picture of what you see (be careful) and send it to our photo gallery on WBTV.com.

Residents and county officials not seeing eye-to-eye on coyote problem

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Neighbors and Mecklenburg County officials disagree over whether coyotes living in east Charlotte pose a threat and should be removed.

Several coyotes have taken up residence in the Evergreen Nature Preserve, a county-run preserve in between Independence Boulevard and Central Avenue.  The preserve is only about four miles from uptown Charlotte.

A number of residents and the homeowners association in the nearby Eastway Park and Sheffield Park neighborhoods are calling on either the county or state to have the animals removed.

The calls come after several incidents in which coyotes followed residents closely while they were walking their dogs.

In the case of Eastway Park resident Deanna Haynes, a coyote bit her dog Ally.  She says it happened a few months ago right after she'd brought the large Ally and her much smaller dog Jack onto a trail at the nature preserve.

Cover Story: Moving the Transit Center for DNC week?

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Democratic National Convention is coming to Charlotte 13 months from now.  But we've learned that could mean huge hassles for anyone who uses public transportation.

The 10th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks is just a month and that has a lot of people wondering what will happen to Charlotte when the DNC is in town? How will they move people from place to place and keep people safe?

There have been all kinds of reports of shutting down the Transit Center in Uptown but is that really true?

There are lots of denials and no one's saying for sure.  But everyone within city circles knew that it would have to happen once Charlotte got the bid.

What will security look like DNC week?
