CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)- Interested in helping to shape your community?

Several vacancies exist on the following boards and commissions to which Charlotte City Council makes appointments. These are volunteer positions on a wide variety of boards with differing time commitments.

All applicants must be registered to vote in Mecklenburg County.

On Monday, June 25, 2012, City Council will make nominations to fill vacant positions or make reappointments on the following boards:

1. AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE *

Two appointments for three year terms beginning August 1, 2012. Crystal Jackson, west side resident, is eligible and would like to be reappointed. Colvin Edward, aviation representative, is eligible and would like to be reappointed.

Time commitment: 5 hours per month. Meets 1st Thursday, 8:00 am, Airport.

2. CITIZENS' REVIEW BOARD *

Five appointments for three year terms beginning August 1, 2012. Alan Adler, Jason Baker, Robbie Harrison and Paulette Michael are eligible and would like to be reappointed. Trevor Fuller is eligible, but does not wish to be reappointed.

Time commitment: 1-2 hours per month. Meets as needed 2nd and 4th Tuesday, 4:00 pm, CMGC, 600 E. 4th St.

3. COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE

Two appointments for unexpired terms beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2013. Ashley Oster and Audrey Madans have resigned. Ryan Rich has not met the City Council attendance requirement.

Time commitment: 1-2 hours per month. Meets 3rd Tuesday, 4:00 pm Covenant Church, 1000 E. Morehead St.

4. CHARLOTTE REGIONAL VISITORS AUTHORITY

One appointment for a representative of a convention hotel for an unexpired term beginning immediately and ending June 30, 2014. Tom Manno has resigned.

Time commitment: 2 hours per month. Meets 2nd Wednesday, 8:00 am, Convention Center, 501 S. College

5. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ADVISORY BOARD

One appointment for a three year term beginning September 22, 2012. Debra Wideman is eligible, but is not interested in being reappointed.

Time commitment: 3 hours per month. Meets 2nd Monday 6:00 pm. Hal Marshall Center, 700 N. Tryon St.

6. HISTORIC LANDMARKS COMMISSION *

Two appointments for three year terms beginning July 17, 2012. Joseph Elliott and Michael Rogers are eligible and would like to be reappointed.

Time commitment: 10 hours per month. Meets 2nd Monday 6:00 pm. 2100 Randolph Rd.

7. KEEP CHARLOTTE BEAUTIFUL

Two appointments for unexpired terms that expire June 30, 2013 and June 30, 2014. ReGinae Reynolds has not met the City Council attendance requirement. Richard Flanagan, Jr has resigned.

Time commitment: 2 hours per month. Meets 4th Wednesday 12 Noon, 227 W. Trade St., Suite 250

8. PASSENGER VEHICLE FOR HIRE COMMITTEE

One appointment for a three year term beginning July 2, 2012 for a taxicab, limousine or other vehicle for hire company owner. Bhanu Contractor has completed his terms of service.

One appointment for a three year term beginning July 2, 2012 for a taxicab, limousine or other vehicle for hire vehicle owner. Andrew Thompson is eligible and would like to be reappointed.

One appointment for a three year term beginning July 2, 2012 for a representative of the hospitality and tourism industry. Susan Schwint has completed her terms of service.

One appointment for a three year term beginning July 2, 2012 for a user of passenger vehicles for hire. Carolyn Carr is eligible and would like to be reappointed.

One appointment for a three year term beginning July 2, 2012 for a person with a disability or a representative from an organization that represents persons with disabilities. Monique Stamps is eligible, but does not wish to be reappointed.

Time commitment: 1-2 hours per month. Meets 1st Tuesday at 1:00 pm. West Service Center, 4150 Wilkinson Blvd.
