Carolinas drying out, heating up this weekend | Weather

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)- The story for the last several days has been cooler temperatures with stormy afternoons, but this weekend we're rereading another chapter in the Carolinas: the heat.

As a warm front pushes North today, it will bring another round of storms to the forecast.  With slightly warmer temperatures and a bit more sun this afternoon, an isolated strong storm will be possible, but with numerous storms over the past few days, the atmosphere is pretty worked over.  Storms will have a difficult time strengthening significantly.

As the front moves out tomorrow, more sunshine will return to the area, heating up the lower atmosphere and sending temperatures near 90 degrees.  The warming trend will not stop here, however, and heat indices could be in the upper 90s late next week.
